Virgin Radio Community by Jon Glass

107.3 Virgin Radio is now available in Victoria. Virgin Radio host Chris Palliser says, “the goal of the show is to be local and community minded.”               Palliser thinks there will always be a need for radio. So, having a community focused radio show will be an asset.             “There is always a place for that personal connection.” Says Palliser. “There is always a place for traffic and weather. Our goal is to make that one on one personal connection with those that are listening and so they keep listening.”             Even with developments in radio technology such as satellite radio, it cannot replace the local radio stations as they aren’t focused on local news and information.             “If you are driving in and you hear about an event that is happening this weekend you are going to hear about that on local radio. You aren’t going to hear that on satellite radio.” Says Palliser.             Palliser has a long career in radio, from Nanaimo,

Initially, Electronic Arts faced criminal charges as they refused to comply with the updated law. Belgium wasn’t the first co

Steve Webb Quazar Arcade by Jon Glass

Local arcade Quazar is now open in downtown Victoria. With the release of the home gaming console, arcades have become a thing of the past until a recent uptick in popularity, which makes this opening a unique offering in the Victoria area.               “Pinball is coming back in a big way,” owner of Quazar Arcade Steve Webb says. “They are making more pinball machines right now than they have in 20 years.”             Quazar has a focus on classic arcade machines and pinball, and are an arcade in the traditional sense as they do not provide any form of food or beverages, making it clear they are not a “Barcade.” This is due to the difficulty of retrieving a liquor licence in the city of Victoria as well as the potential risk of damage to the machines.             “If someone were to spill a drink on a machine that is potentially a $12,000 mistake” says Webb. Currently, Quazar has 12 staff members and has seen tremendous success since opening.             Webb sa
Blog Analysis Jon Glass January 9, 2019             Jeff Attwood’s blog post titled “Because Reading is Fundamental” main idea is to determine whether a post counter attached to someone’s username on a website incites healthy conversation, or does it hinder the conversation.             His posts desired audience appears to gear towards content creators in the online space wanting to increase engagement on their own websites and are most likely young adults with some post secondary education.   This is indicated by the metrics used, such as the post counter and his propositioned read timer.
